Debbie Katz · Founder
Debbie Katz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to Munich as a young woman. Shaped by her Jewish heritage and a childhood between continents, she grew up with an eye for craft, color and the beauty of things made by hand.
When she arrived in Miami, she found she could never buy clothes that were both comfortable and beautiful — and was certain countless other women felt the same. She began searching for the right fabric and fell in love with fine American cotton gauze. That fabric became the soul of the brand, and remains its signature today.
I want women to feel beautiful.
Born in Buenos Aires and raised between Argentina and Munich, Debbie grew up shaped by her Jewish heritage and a love of craft, color and culture — the threads that would later define her label.
The Debbie Katz label emerges in the heart of South Beach, surrounded by Miami's signature Art Deco architecture. Inspired by the colors of the city's unique light, beach and ocean, the signature line takes shape.
Light pareos, breezy kaftans and silk tunics appear in stores everywhere. Miami's beaches become the runway for gauze pants, skirts and cover-ups — loved by beach-goers across the world.
Debbie travels to Bali, Thailand and India, translating the artistry of these cultures into a brand-new boho line — intricate embroideries and beadwork on the finest cottons and silks.
From vacationers to city girls, Debbie Katz dresses women everywhere. Beautiful, timeless, ageless — still designed in Miami, still made in small batches.
Every year, Debbie spends weeks in Asia drawing inspiration from each country's living traditions. Because each place carries its own touch, every piece is uniquely designed — no two quite alike.
In Bali, traditional hand-block printing turns lightweight cotton into wearable art — each pattern pressed by hand, panel by panel.
From Thailand come delicate beadwork and lustrous silks, applied to tunics and cover-ups with painstaking, time-honored care.
In India, vintage embroidery patches — sourced on Debbie's travels — make every boho bag a one-of-a-kind piece of artisanal handicraft.
Our vintage-embroidery bag lines are produced through Fair Trade programs — makers are fairly compensated and treated with the dignity they deserve.
Women are at the heart of Debbie Katz. We believe in empowering women — especially single mothers — to work, earn and thrive.
A large part of our clothing line always has been — and always will be — made in the USA, in small, considered batches.
